I was a junky for a while, actually I'm still one, just not a practicing one. I never thought life would be any good without a substance to take me away. What would I do with my time, would people like me?? Today my life is more fulfilling than ever with over a year clean. There is a better way..

I agree. I have been clean from meth for 8 months now and have noticed a remarkable improvement in quality of life. THe cravings come and go, sometimes I struggle with them sometimes I hardly notice them.
Keep it up dude .Might this belong in PS? 0_o |

I'm pretty much where you used to be, I guess. I don't know what I'd do without drugs or what I'd do with my time. I'm not complaining though, sure it has it's bad side, but it definitely has it's good side.
Also, what does this have to do with dopamine? :\ |

I find that life is neither more nor less fufilling with or without drugs. They are just a thing you do like watching TV or playing computer games. I just happen to like them more. I am forced clean of pot and am staying away from meth a lot more then normal due to probation and I see no change in quality of life, I just find other ways to occupy my time.

As for sobriety, I suppose some have had serious life improvements from stopping their drug use, especially where "harder" drugs are concerned. I can't say the same, but I'm just a pot smoker and even at that, my results may not be typical. My interests and routine never seem to be altered by smoking or the lack thereof. I regain no clarity of thought, nor does the quality of my life improve or degrade. Weed, for me, has simply been an interesting hobby that I just happen to remain enthusiastic about. During probationary periods, being monitored and forced to stay clean only managed to depress me and fuel my hatred for government regulations. The only benefits I've ever seen from curbing/ceasing drug use are when my time could've been better-spent doing something else, but weed mixes extremely well into most of my affairs, work included. |
