Ghetto Electric Vaporiser.

We all know that vaporizing is the "best" way to get high - no harmful chemicals are released, what you get is mainly pure THC.
BUT. Vaporizers (decent ones) will set you back £80-£100 ($160-$200) - a problem if you like to be "ghetto" or just plain have no money. Thus I propose an electric vaporizer made from common household materials (or nothing that a trip to an ironmonger's won't solve). This builds on JSpeedy's lightbulb vaporiser, but hopefully is a little less dangerous and doesn't require much slicing'n'dicing (not a good thing to do while stoned).

What you will need:

• A lamp
• Some solder and a soldering iron
• 100W or higher lightbulb
• Shortish piece of metal about 7cm x 2cm.
• 15ml measuring spoon, metal (teaspoon size)
• Coke bottle (not glass, you're gonna be cutting it)
• Hacksaw (breadknife if you feel lucky and/or you hate your fingers)
• Weed (duh)

Building it.

Step one: take an ordinary household lamp. No need to do anything to it except remove the shade, unless you wanna "customise" it with "ghetto signz" if it's an old lamp. DON'T TURN IT ON YET, DUMBASS.

Step two: Cut the handle of the measuring spoon off with your hacksaw (careful!) Now here's the tricky part, pay attention. I'll bullet point it so you don't get lost.

• Cut the piece of metal to the specs above, making sure the top edge is shorter than the bottom edge (see fig. 1a)
• Take your piece of metal and fold it around the spoon, so it fits under the lip. The smaller edge needs to be long enough to fit around the lip (see fig. 1b), while the longer edge needs to be able to sit on the lightbulb comfortably (not an issue unless it's REALLY small). If it's too short, oops, get a longer piece of metal. If it's too long, cut it to size.
• Wrap solder wire around where the metal meets the spoon a couple of times, then apply the soldering iron to melt it.
• Solder the bottom edge to the top of the lighbulb, if you want. If your "base" of the bowl arrangement is wide enough, it might just sit on the lightbulb without needing solder. This makes it a LOT more portable, you can simply take your bowl to a friend's house and use his/her lightbulbs).

If you did it right you should have an awesome bowl supported by a metal collar on top of your lightbulb.

Step three: if you didn't burn your dumb ass in the last step, take a hacksaw or knife and cut about 2/3 of the way UP the coke bottle. Doesn't really matter if it's a 2-litre or smaller. This will be your mouthpiece, used to inhale the THC in a manner similar to knife hits.

Step four (the fun one): plug in your lamp. SWITCH IT ON, STONER. Wait about 5-10 minutes for your lightbulb to heat up (maybe closer to 10 if you used the measuring cylinder as your weed won't touch the bulb directly), then drop a nug of weed or drug of choice into the bowl. Wait till you see vapour rising, then put the sawn-off mouthpiece in your mouth and inhale the pure weed goodness!

That is the most ghetto thing I have ever seen. That's why I am voting + too.

But have you tested it yet? Are you sure the bulb will get hot enough to release the vapor?

When you build this, you should try multiple modles with multiple wattages to see what wattage gives the best hits.

Will do. Also I have to test whether the solder will hold out under that heat or if you're gonna have to use a silver-based one. I should say a 100W bulb will get hot enough, but I may need a higher wattage (I have a 200W lying around somewhere).
