Okay, so combining E and serotonin-based anti-depressants are bad news, I understand that...but bupropion doesn't really do anything with serotonin, right? I wiki'd it and didn't see the word anywhere in the article, so I'm assuming that's the case. Either way, is it safe to either take E while taking bupropion, or soon after discontinuing?
I just want to be clear on this technicality. I don't need lectures about how it's not good for me to flip flop, or to mess with E if I'm clinically depressed. I just want to make sure that those two drugs aren't going to combine to form something dangerous. |

I was under the impression wellbutrin was an SSRI anti-depressant in which case you should not combine it with E but I could be mistaken.

The people at Bluelight discuss it and various different answers get thrown around. Read up and decide for yourself, I just googled "taking wellbutrin and ecstasy". Either way I doubt you would die- worst case you will just not roll. How many mg of Bupropion are you on? Do you plan on not taking it a few days prior? These factors could affect your experience with ecstasy. edit: read this Spoiler for "Ask Dr. Mercury: 'Mixing Wellbutrin and ecstasy?':

Bupropion is not an SSRI. Serotonin syndrome is known to exist with SSRI’s(1)(2), MDMA(3), and the risk is most likely increased when Bupropion and SSRI combined (4). The risk of serotonin syndrome does increase when MDMA (and most other serotonergic drugs) is combined with most other serotonergic drugs, however when combined with an SSRI, studies suggest that this may perhaps actually decrease the risk of Serotonin Syndrome (5). Bupropion, however, interacts primarily with noradrenalin and dopamine, with little serotonergic action (4).
This may suggest that Bupropion acts somewhat weakly like an SSRI, which is why it acts synergistically with it to cause Serotonin Syndrome, and by acting like an SSRI it may act similarly to an SSRI in their respective combinations with MDMA and likewise decrease or not affect the risk of Serotonin Syndrome. However, there are some chemicals that may potentially increase the risk of Serotonin Syndrome with BOTH SSRI’s and MDMA, and Bupropion may be one of such chemicals. Because Bupropion is not an SSRI, it is unclear whether or not its combination with MDMA would be more or less likely to cause a risk of Serotonin Syndrome. It is generally far less serotonergically active than either SSRI’s or MDMA, so I would personally suspect that regardless of what it would do it would generally be a small factor—but even so it may have the potential to increase the risk. Whatever you do, I would suggest that you start off small. Serotonin Syndrome is usually not destructive and is rarely fatal and can be addressed fairly easily if it is mild. If you so chose to do said combination, it would be best to use low doses so that the worst case scenario would be mild Serotonin Syndrome rather than a potentially very harmful case of it. By recognizing its presence in its mild state you can as such address the notion that Bupropion may have been the factor that caused the syndrome and likewise avoid further worse problems in the future that may be caused by higher doses of either. 1. http://emedicine.medscape.com/article/1011436-overview 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seroton...may_contribute 3. http://www.mdconsult.com/das/citatio...1/1.html?issn= 4. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15602102 5. http://www.informaworld.com/smpp/con...0538207~db=all |

I Tried Trip2night for the first time last night around 9:30 pm. I started to feel effects around 11pm, effects lasted around 5 hours or more. Some of the effects were energy, dizziness, strong buzz like effects, euphoric feelings, happy, silly, and energy to dance all night long. The product made me horny, although that usually doesn’t take much.
I bought the product from Narcomundo.com. The product came in a powder form with directions to add 1 scoop to fruit juice. I still have a lot left over for next week. For the amount I took; I think I will get around 9 servings out of one pack; although it says 20 servings on the directions. |
