Question Do tablets lose their potency in a long delivery?

You're supposed to keep tablets in cool or room temperature area to help keep it's potency and it don't spoil.

I was wondering, you get prescription tablets in cheap standard mail. It takes 14 days to get to you. Does it lose it's potency during that time? Or should one pay extra for the 2 day shipping or overnight so it gets to you right away and not have it laying around somewhere during the 14 day journey??

What is your guys opinion on this?

Most pharmaceuticals last for many years on the shelf. The only thing that you may want to get shipped overnight is a perscription that needs refrigeration.

I really appreciate your response. I was also wondering. In standard shipping, do those delivery people ever leave packages in the sun during the delivery process? Or is it a rule or procedure they follow to always keep the mail in a shade or cool place?

It depends on the place and the shipping method.

My father works for a post office so often times back in the day I would chill there and watch shit go down at the post office behind the counter. And no he didnt get stamps for free.

They would basically take the shit right out of the truck, and bring it threw the loading bay, so it goes from back of a delivery truck into the building. At this post office.

So it's never left outside in the sun? Was inside the post office humid or hot to the point where it could affect medication?

At this post office it never was exposed to sunlight for more than a moment. At this post office. I dont know about others.

Also, they are in the backs of the trucks, so it gets hot as fuck in there. The building itself was air conditioned or heated depending on the weather.

Your medication will be fine

Most medications are HCl salts, which last longer than you will. Experation dates on medications are only put there so kids won't stumble upon your old vicodin and try them out. You're fine.

My guess is the dates are also for uninformed adults just to make some more money. "This perscription is two months past the expiration date, better not risk it and just shell out some more money."
