Help!

I cannot find this information anywhere on the internet. I am assuming the answer is yes because most drugs do. My question is does xanax and heroin lower your immune system?

I literally think I have the most pain I have had in my entire life in my throat right now. My glands are baseballs. When I swallow it feels like I'm swallowing rocks. I did not get a minute of sleep last night because I was sitting up spitting whatever saliva came into my mouth so I didn't have to endure the pain of swallowing it. Pain was so bad that 6 mg of xanax could not even put me to sleep, and my tolerance to benzos is low, I hardly ever do them. There is no OTC NSAID that remotely helps the pain. The doctor gave me useless advice. They gave me tests for mono, strep, and today I go in for the H1N1 test but because I have no fever I doubt this will come out positive. I cannot eat, or drink any fluids because it hurts so bad that my body will not let it go down my throat, it will get caught there and I will throw it up. I have been giving myself intravenous shots of vitamin C to combat it somewhat. But I cannot even drink water or eat soup.

Right now is my busiest time of the year so I cannot afford to miss work...no matter what. I could have H1N1 and I would have to do work in an isolated bubble. The only way to get things into my system is through my nose and veins. I refuse to shoot any drugs.

I am hoping that someone can tell me that xanax and dope does not lower your immune system, in hopes that doing them will allow me to eat healthy, take vitamins, numb the pain a little, and get some rest.

m4K- I know you don't smoke weed very often (or at all).. but have you thought about trying it just for medicinal purposes? I'm sure it would stimulate your appetite a little bit and allow you to eat a small amount, and maybe even help you get some rest... other than that, I would say to to just keep doing what your doing now (mega doses of vitamin C) and try as hard as possible to avoid contracting the flu, or h1n1... I wish I could give you some more advice, I hope your feeling better soon.

Hehe social you must be wasted, look at where the pain is coming from. My throat. Smoking weed would make it 10000000000x worse. I have an appetite, the pain is just so bad of swallowing food I cannot do it.

I hate to say it man but this is probably just one of those things that takes a couple days to go away. I've been there done this type of thing. Hurts to swallow, etc.

I don't really know what to tell you besides if you do xanax and dope be very careful. However, I trust that you know what you are doing.

Have you got insurance? I'd say go to a doctor ASAP, tell him there's no fucking way you can swallow pills, maybe you could get IV antibiotics or something.

I find most drugs do lower my immune system (that's just a qualitative assessment) - I get coldsores much much more easily after a binge, usually it's uppers that do it.

When you think about it, detoxifying drugs from your system will put strain on your liver, perhaps leading to a higher level of toxins in the bloodstream, which can potentially lower the immune system.

(NB: all that's just my observations and what I can remember of biology, I don't really have any scientific sources)

I'm gonna say no. Xanax is a pharmaceutical drug so it shouldn't lower your immune system and heroin technically is a painkiller so it shouldn't either.

However whatever the heroin is cut with might depending on what it is.

This had been going on for two weeks. I had 2 strep tests and 2 mono tests. I was positive it was strep because I have had it before. I went back this morning for another appointment. The strep test finally comes up positive. These motherfuckers botched the first two tests wasting my time paying for appointments and tests when I could have been on penicillin 3 weeks ago and been better. Well, at least I'll be ok in a couple days.

Yeah I guess smoking might have been a pretty stupid idea.. I was just thinking along the lines of giving you any type or relief... but your right I'm sure that would have just made it feel worse.. hahaa, sorry.

Hopefully now that the strep test came back positive they will be able to give you something liquid to swallow instead of a bunch of huge antibiotics, since they are the ones that fucked up and made you wait for 3 weeks while your throat got worse and worse before they finally realized what the problem was..

I am pretty sure that drugs such as heroin and xanax do affect the immune system. One of their effects is they generally slow down many of the body's processes. Immune response could most certainly be one of them. Plus when binging, if that were the case, often times nutrition goes on the back burner so vitamins and minerals become scarce which can aid in the failing or poor working of many bodily functions.

Now if I were in severe pain with a sore throat and able to honk heroin or some other painkiller of the sort, I dunno, it would be a gamble. Instant gratification while possible extension of the ailment, not exactly like you can run a cost-benefit analysis on that one haha.

I had mono for 3 months and strep for 2 months (at the same time) last winter before the doctor's finally got it right and realized what was going on.

I almost ended up failing the semester because I was so sick and tired all the time that I would just sleep through all of my classes. It really sucked dick so I know how you feel with the doctors screwing up. It's not a good feeling being sick and not knowing why.

I went back this morning for another appointment. The strep test finally comes up positive. These motherfuckers botched the first two tests wasting my time paying for appointments and tests when I could have been on penicillin 3 weeks ago and been better. Well, at least I'll be ok in a couple days.
