I would try to help you but I really couldn't understand most of your post. If you could try to make it more clear that would be helpful.

I don't quite understand your post, however you'll feel less speedy and more normal if you have ADD and are taking an amphetamine (Adderall), that's why it is prescribed. If you have ADD, why can't you get medication for it?

People with ADHD can't feel the effects of Adderall or Ritalin the same way someone without it would. That's his problem. He's asking if there's anything that would effect him, having ADHD, more than someone who doesn't. Sort of a balance thing.

I got it the first try, and I'm buzzed.

Yea, I supposly have ADD, and I can't feel the effects of Adderall at all. Sucks for me, guess that's just not my type of drug.

Would you not be able to have a higher dose to get the effects? (I'm not sure, but I seem to remember hearing of saomeone doing that) Or perhaps try a different stimulant if that was what was interesting you?

That doesnt make sense though, theres nothing chemically/neurologically(sp?) different between someone with ADHD and a normal person. Besides, the prescribed dosage assigned for a person is so you have the least amount of effects as possible. I mean, besides making you focus better.

If you want a greater effect, up the ante...........but make sure you research first, you dont wanna passout/od or anything.

Yes, there is. A person with AD(H)D has a decreased amount of certain neurochemicals as a "normal" person. Amphetamine based stimulants are used to increase the amount of neurochemicals - so while a "normal" person would be speeded up one with AD(H)D is actually slowed down because their brain is recieving a proper amount of chemicals.

    What is AD/HD?

AD/HD is a neurobiological disorder resulting from problems in the dopamine neurotransmitter systems in the brain.... When the brain isn't getting adequate neurochemicals, it tries to find ways to increase their release. Movement, physical activity, focusing on things that are stimulating in themselves, or doing things which cause stimulation are three common ways that people with AD/HD stimulate their brains.
    What does stimulant medication do?

These medications stimulate the brain to release a greater amount of the neurochemicals needed for smooth transmission of messages through the brain. The most common stimulants prescribed are methylphenidate and the amphetamines (Ritalin, Dexedrine and Adderall). These medications have been used for over fifty years to treat AD/HD symptoms and are considered very safe and effective when prescribed correctly and used as prescribed.

Sorry, but there isnt. You giving me those facts is like me taking facts off a commercial on TV saying marijuana kills. The test that "proves" that was about as professional as the ecstasy one, you know the one that said "this is your brain on x", and had a shit load of holes and stuff. There really isnt a difference, which is why when a doctor prescribes it, he just uses a questionaire and interviews. I didnt realize this either at first, but my college psychology teacher brought it up, so i researched it, and did my project(around 2.5k words) on it. Its actually a hugely debated isssue, whether it should be called a disease-which i believe it shoudlnt-

Those drugs make anyone ~focus better, but "normal" people dont need(well, "add" kids dont NEED it either) prescribtions for it.

If you want, i can send you my research paper.

I will openly admit I'm wrong, if I'm wrong, but you can't make statements without backing them up. Please post resources proving me wrong. I don't mean to sound argumentative, I feel that AD(H)D is widley over-diagnosed, but this is what I have always been told is the medical reason behind it.

My friend has AD(h)D (im also not quiet sure) but his doctor said to him if he takes anything (even pot), it can totally just destory you and make you freak out for life.

Maybe hes just scaring him, but i dont think taking anything is a good idea.

This is the most bullshit thing I've ever read about drugs effecting the brain.

Basically it's saying that when people are bored, they want to engage in physical activity, they just are absorbed in themselves, or they they just do something random for mental stimulation.

Essentially, ADDHD is being looked upon backwards. It is a neurobiological disorder, but it doesn't result from problems in the dopamine neurotransmitter system in a brain, but rather both the the neurobiological disorder and the problems with the dopamine neurotransmitter (the dopamine system reacts to whats going on chemically in the brain...For example, if you take crack, then dopamine receptors start dying from lack of use, because they will be blocked from crack) result from the lack of mental stimulation the child is getting in there life.

ADDHD is therefore boredom and mental rebellion.

These drugs are the worst thing that ever happened to our nations youth.

Not only is it widely over-diagnosed, but it's widely BullShit.

Just FYI, I dropped out of highschool because of attention problems that were monstrously worse than any ADDHD symptoms, I understand that the symptoms are real, but the disease is misrepresented in our culture of victimhood. Prescription drugs should be taken away from the kids. Period.

Complete bullshit. He can take any drug you and me can.

I couldn't agree with this statement more.

I used to be a youth camp counselor once upon a time, and I was in charge of meds. You'd be surprised how many kids are doped up on that shit and have NO BUSINESS BEING DOPED UP. It was sad.

But even more sad was when the one kid who had all the business in the world being doped up would forget his pills at home. Those were baaaaaaaaad days.

Drugs are tools. People attempting to turn to pharms as tools have the same proclivity towards fucking up as people turning to other drugs for tools as well. Doctors, in my opinion, are too fast to search for a chemical solution instead of a psychological one.

    /rant.

I agree, although its not always the doctor thats to blame(imo). Parents come in demanding that they cant control their child, bad grades, always getting in trouble. And like i said, its not like it can be tested for(blood/pet/mri), its just interviews and such. The classification of ADD/ADHD in itself is messed up to begin with. If evryone knew that theres nothing really wrong with their child, and better parenting/schooling/discipline would be much healthier/better off, then maybe parents would not see a commercial, that clearly label ADHD as a disease, and rush to a doctor. Obviously lots of work needs to be done. To many lazy parents taking the easy way out.
