I was wondering on methods of dissolving THC in alcohol. Can anyone maybe list their favorites?
Hopefully this is of help to you :
"One may extract the active ingredients from marijuana using alcohol and then use this tincture to make a potent drink. The highest proof alcohol available should be used, preferably 190 proof grain alcohol, since the water in the alcohol will dissolve other chemicals in the marijuana that one wishes to avoid. Some suggest soaking the grass in warm water for a period to remove those chemicals but that presents a whole host of other and is not really recommended. One may simply place the marijuana into a bottle of grain alcohol and let the canabanoids leach out, but this takes 2-3 weeks of time. A faster method is to heat the alcohol to sub-boiling and stir in the marijuana. Great deal of care should be taken if this method is chosen as the alcohol is highly flammable. The resulting tincture, often called "Green Dragon", is a light to emerald green liquid, which can be drunk straight, but this is not recommended. Highly lauded is a drink of 3 parts lemon lime soda, 1 part green dragon and a dollop of honey served over ice." taken from www.truthtee.com
Need a little bit more information from this - how long to sub-boil the marijuanna? And what chemicals are they refering to that one should avoid? Also, what temperature would the 190 proof alcohol ignite at(just at boiling point?)Originally Posted by Insomnolence
Bah, use the 2-3 week method. "Sub-boiling" is extremely easy to fuck up, evaporates your valuable alcohol, and risks damage to your THC if you're a smidgen too hot. It's much easier to stick stems into <high proof alcohol> and let it sit in your freezer. The higher the proof, the better. I don't get Everclear in CA (Christmas, anyone?), so I usually use high proof vodka.
They make great Bloody Marys.
Do you get effects off of your brew?Originally Posted by Ollie Cromwell

Heating doesn't make a difference in end product (save the evaporation of alcohol and possible destruction of THC), just a difference in speed. Heat speeds up the "extraction".
How would the alcohol evaporate(Considering you'd be smart enough to cover the top of the pot to prevent evaporation)?
I hope you have a clear top so that you can monitor temperature then.Originally Posted by Zephir62
(and you would no doubt still lose some condensation on the top of the lid and vapors every time you opened the lid unless you sat around and waited for everything to cool back down to room temperature. Maybe if you threw it in the fridge?)
I have no idea how long you'd simmer it for, what temperature you'd want to attempt, etc., etc. It's a hell of a lot less work to throw a bottle of vodka in the freezer for two weeks.![]()
What is the high like. Is it like if you were to just get drunk and smoke some chronic?
Yup. It's just increased efficency for those of us who like to get drunk and smoke some chronic. It's like one less step.Originally Posted by ROFLAMERICA
If I were to do this with nugs and everclear, how much bud would you suggest using (assuming they are some pretty good nugs).
Nugs and Everclear. 1:4 ratio, if you can picture that in your mind. Use 1/4 a bottle of everclear (assuming you've bought the liter bottle), and then put a nug roughly half the amount of alcohol, like an 8th, maybe a little less.
