Question about Glass bong downpipes and bowl pieces

Hello all, well i bought my first glass bong. But had a few questions about it. Please excuse me if anything sounds stupid as i am new to the world of glass bongs.

Ok so here is a pic of my downpipe and bowl piece.

Now, I notice some glass bongs have downpipes and bowls that look like this. ( like a frosted glass end to them, such as on ROORS)

Now i have a few questions and hope you can help.

1. Are there any PROs or CONs to each type?
2. Can i convert my bong to use the frosted tip ended downpipe and bowl? I believe but could be wrong that there called GLASS JOINTS.

If i can convert it, do i simple purchase a downpipe and glass bowl, and do i use a rubber grommet on the downpipe to seal it into the bong? or does that drosted looking tip seal it off?

I am just a bit confused between the 2 types.

The "frosted end" is a glass on glass connection. I've never heard the term "glass joint" but that could also be correct (damn area specific lingo). Blowers use standard parts so that the downstem, bong, and bowls all fit together without the need for a rubber grommet. There is a chance a glass on glass downstem will work with your bong but I really can't tell from the picture. Can you measure the diameter of the hole? You can also get a regular downstem, like you have now, only it will fit glass on glass slides.

Pros and cons?
Glass on glass is more aesthetically pleasing and I think it gives a cleaner hit but that could just be my imagination. As for cons, it's a lot easier to break the bowl or female piece if you're not careful.

Ok well that makes more sense now, i kind of get what you are saying.

I dont mind the glass slide with the rubber stopper, that is fine.

My other question is this. The glass bowl part were you load it, the hole is REAL TINY, i am guessing so that no weed or ash falls thru. But i smoked out of it yesterday and i noticed some green had got into the bong.

DO they sell glass bowl ends ( that will work with my bong ) that have a larger hole? So that way i could use a glass screen? I think it i were to put a glass screen in my bowl right now, seeing as how tiny the hole is, i think it would either totally block it off or just not fit.

Be careful with that bowl. I had the same one and it broke apart when I packed it too tight, I bought the same one again and that broke as well when a friend accidently hit it on my table. After that I bought a 12 dollar bowl and its bigger, more solid, has a cool design, and hasnt broken after 3 months.

Are you refering to a bowl piece like this?

This is what i wanted to add to my bong, Are these a bit better? and a little more stronger?

I am also assuming this is the correct bowl piece for my bong cause it has the rubber seal on it.

Yeah, thats really very similar to what I have, the glass is a bit thicker and therefor its harder to break; also, you can fit more weed in it so you don't have to stop and reload as often, so in my opinion its better. Any basic slide with a rubber stopper should fit your bong, if you want to be sure just ask the person at the head shop.

This is my all glass on glass bong. It uses a rubber stopper (and some electrical tape because this is the third stem for this bong, and I can't find the right size stopper.) Maybe this will help, maybe it won't.

i dont really like glass on glass. if you don't pull the slide up perfectly, its like stuck. Its just easier to use one with an o ring
