very first DXM extraction

Ok, so i just attemted my very first DXM extraction with 2 bottles of robo.

now I have this little pan that I freebased it in, but there doesn't seem to be anything in it.

Did I do something wrong? I followed the instructions in the sticky in the FAQ's exactly.

Have you let all your naphtha evaporate? if so, mind showing us a picture (closeup) of what the bottom of your dish looks like? With 2 bottles, you might not get a lot of freebase, it might be spread around in a very thin layer. Try scraping a razorblade or credit card across the dish, see what it picks up.

Yes, I let all of the naptha evaporate. It doesn't matter what type of pan you use, does it? I used a metal baking pan.

Looks yellow, from what i hear you might have used the wrong kind of ammonia (sudsy non-clear formula) or perhaps you didnt use pure naptha? I hope my extraction goes well

I checked the bottle and it didn't say non-sudsy, but it didn't say sudsy either. The bottle next to it [of the same brand] said sudsy, so I just assumed that this was non-sudsy. I used naptha paint thinner - is that ok to use? I know the instructions said lighter fluid, but I couldn't find that, so I got this instead. I couldn't find any ingredients, so i guess it's pure.

And also, seeing as I've never taken DXM before other than the recommended dosage on the bottle for colds and such, how much should I take? [if it turns out my extraction did work]

Also, how should I take it. I don't have any empty capsules, so that's out of the question. And about how long will it last?

A first time dosage should be about 200mg. With freebase, there's really no way to tell this without an accurate (I'm talking milligrams) scale. That will take you to the "first plateau": see http://www.drugsandbooze.com/showthread.php?t=4715 and www.dextroverse.org for more info. It's better to start low and work your way up than start too high, get freaked out and end up in hospital.
For your first couple of times, I'd suggest sticking to no higher than 500mg. Any higher and you'll be venturing into the actual hallucinations level of DXM. While that's the goal of many people, until you're used to DXM and its effects, it's wiser not to go there too soon.
In any case, you might want to level out at 900mg - high Third Plateau. The Fourth Plateau is what i call the "really freaky shit" plateau Reality bends. No other word for it. It's much more shamanistic in nature than recreational. I regularly contact transdimensional beings while in "DXM space", little of which I carry over into normal reality except a sense of utter alienness, a cool calculating intelligence that doesn't really care one little bit about the vast majority of humanity.
If that's your bag, go for the fourth plateau, but bear in mind the hangovers can be shittier at higher dosages
Oh, and for a method, just parachute it or mix it with juice. Parachuting = wrapping it up in a small square of tissue paper and swallowing it.

Never tried an extraction myself but i do have something to add. if you dont know exactly what your doing, not having a guarantee when amonia and lighter fluid are involved is not a good thing. ive heard a horror story or two over on dextroverse. if youve never taken dxm before, you might wanna just get 2 bottles of coughgels... oh and as a precaution, people always advise that you "test the water" first incase you are enzyme deficient. i can link you to a step by step photo captioned guide tomorrow.

That'd be great, and thanks for the advice. It just finished crystallizing and I'm actually sitting with the pyrex dish in my lap with a razor, heh.

And a question for anyone who would know - does it usually take this long to crystallize? All of the naptha was gone about 5 or 6 days ago, and it only JUST finished crystallizing. Just wondering if this is normal.

Anyway I haven't had time at all to post/read/reply, and I looked for a while for that DXM extraction (it was either here or on bluelight) with the photos...

I remember dextroverse.org had one too, but the photos were a lot smaller and lower quality...

Well im pretty sure that it worked - I have quite a bit of white powder that smells like the syrup, just less cherry-ish. And I'm getting my hands on a decent scale [like high school chem class quality. Not great but itll do.] and some empty caps soon, so its all good.

Depending on when I get the stuff, I'll prolly do take around 200-250mg on a friday night with some friends there. I don't want to risk being fucked up for work on tues, so I'm gonna leave a wide margin to recover, just to be safe.
