Beer is evil!

I just saw a commercial on TV (which is rare in and of itself) that pissed me off. It was one of those anti-drinking campaign ads. You see various kids being let into a party, and each is bringing something: soda, chips, music, etc etc. Then the last kid comes in with a 6-pack of bottled beer and is turned away: "Sorry man, gotta lose the beer." The overdub says something like "when you bring alcohol to a party, you're not in," or something like that.

Now, call me crazy, but a 6 pack of beer at a party? God forbid! I mean, everybody was bringing stuff to share, and what's a 6 pack shared among 20 kids going to do? Hell, even if that kid took down the 6 all by himself he'd still be nowhere close blacking out or making a particular ass of himself.

I mean, arrrrgh! The puritanism and simplism of that ad and that whole mentality just pisses me off! Why do Americans have such a stick up their asses about poop like this? It's the same mentality that blocks me from being able to have a nice Bass to go with my burger or a glass of wine to go with my steak when I'm with my parents at a nice restaurant. That's bullshit. Ought to be a crime.

Thats pretty gay. Few sXe kids would ever throw a big party. If there is a party almost anywhere anytime, the kid bringing the beer is the hero. Even if it is just a 6 pack, some kids just like to drink so they can say they;ve drunk. So that commercial is bullshit.

I think the adverts we have here are better. They focus not on alcohol, but on binge drinking. I agree with that because binge drinking is something that can actually harm you. Getting a bit drunk every so often won't.

On a seperate but related note, if a kid brought a 6 pack to a party I was holding i'd tell him to get the hell out and come back when he had something a lot harder than piss water.

In WI, it's legal to drink with your parents, as long as they give you permission, and you are under 18. Between 18 and 21, however, you can't drink at all, because you are no longer a minor, so your parents can't speak for you...

I don't have parties @ my house all to often, but when i do, you are expected to bring a case, or someother shit.

I personally blame religion. if everybody wasnt so concerned about where they were going after they die other than in the ground we wouldnt be having problems like these in my opinion drinking and doing drugs is no big deal if you dont bother other people while your doing it i can understand shooting up and passing out in the middle of a park with a needle sticking out of your arm and an empty six pack laying next to you then its other peoples problem as well but if your in your house and you wanna just enjoy some alcohol or at a restaurant and want some wine whats the big fucking deal
