IS it true that if you drink vodka with gatorade it will kill you? i heard that something with the electrolytes in the gatorade will react with the vodka and kill you? Just wondering for future reference.

This is utter and absolute bullshit and whoever invented this rumor, which I've heard a few times now, should be stabbed in the chode with a steak knife.
I'm sure if it were this easy to make a deadly fluid there would be many more people dying.
Well, I guess if this rumor is true then I should be dead.
The truth is that Gatorade is actually good for you when you drink any alchohol because it prevents/reduces hangovers. The electrolytes and rehydrating properties of the drink reduce it. Same with drinking alot of water along with alchohol.
I've never heard that, but it sounds fucking hilarious. Good times.
I know from experience that this is not true. I can also tell you that in general Gatorade's is too weak to cover the insect-repellent taste of cheap vodka.
This is completely untrue, gatorade and vodka combined is a very good drink and I haven't gotten a hang over whenever I drink it. My friends and I call it Faderade. It's pretty good with lemon-lime gatorade.
Alcohol = absorbed in the stomach
Gatorade = absorbed in the intestine
Mixing the two has no effect on the other's individual effects when mixed and would give you the same results if taken separately (reduced hangover, etc.)
I think if this is true it would be a much bigger deal. I wouldn't hear about it for the first time on LWS.
I actually use gatorade to chase when I drink rum or vodka....and Im still alive.
Utter bullshit, I've had vodka and Gatorade together several times, and nothing has happened to me. For those of us that enjoy mixing Gatorade with alcohol, I'd like to make a suggestion. There's no better tasting drink than Bacardi Razz mixed with Fruit Punch Powerade, and last time I checked it is non-lethal. Unless I'm dead right now, which I highly doubt.
lol, absolut bullshit.Originally Posted by dankotron3000
Actually, its really bullshit, ive had Gatorade and Vodka, and im still here.
Same with Kool-Aid
and Powerade.
Let me just repeat what everyone has said. It's fucking bullshit, and you should punch the person who told you that in the face, just to straighten them out![]()
I don't know guys - it does make sense... haha not at all! This is a completely false rumor. Why people start such retarded things is a damn good question, but a better one is why the fuck would anyone believe this shit?!?!
Agreeed. I know the drink as faderade as well, its a damn good drink. But i like it best with fruit punch or some kind of fierce gatorade (fierce grape is great). Once again, its complete bullshit to think that any fruit or sport drink mixed with vodka will kill you. Unless you overdose on vodka by drinking an entire handle or something stupid like that. Then its the vodka which could potentially kill you, not the gatorade.Originally Posted by A. Train

Well I can only speak from personal experience which was that mixing gatorade and vodka almost put me in the hospital (probably should've) with alcohol poisoning.
Then again pounding over half a liter of blue label smirnoff in half an hr with a couple of shiner bock chasers would probably do that regardless of the mixer. >.>;
Yeah, I'm thinking the Gatorade wasn't the problem here.Originally Posted by novadog

When you go on a binge, drink some gatorate either with the alcohol or between the alcoholic drinks (if you do shots, or drink beer, or whatever). Also, drink water. Ideally, the perfect rehydrator is 50% gatorade and 50% water, because gatorade (and powerade) are formulated for people who do very, very intense workouts and do a whole lot of sweating. They're actually not very good for you unless you are sweating a lot, so don't go too heavy on them.
Again, 50% gatorade, 50% water is ideal for everyday "rehydration". It'll probably taste like watery shit, but that's life. The dangerous element is the amount of alcohol you end up consuming throughout the evening, because you might not taste it when it's mixed. Just keep tabs on your booze and you can mix it with pretty much anything safely, except medicines, but that's a whole other can of worms. The gatorade/vodka myth is just that, a myth.
EDIT: Since we're talking about vodka...try putting cheap vodka through a Brita filter. It immensely improves the taste, and puts it on par with expensive vodkas (at least in my experience).
Bahahah if this was true I'd be so dead right now... all I drink is gatorade.
It might not kill you, but it's not safe. Gatorade was design for athletes. Because of this, Gatorade was designed to run through your blood and veins to rehydrate your body quickly. Meaning if anything happens, you will be really messed up. Probably not die, but I don't recommend trying it.
Thread is back from the dead, this is retarded, there is nothing wrong with drinking gatorade and alcohol.Originally Posted by GBswm
How do you suppose that your body being more hydrated is bad for you? It's not like drinking all the gatorade will make the alcohol pump through you harder.Originally Posted by GBswm
Besides, it'll help you with the hangover.
