    Drugs Shroom Growing

Well since I don't know anyone who can really identify shrooms in cow fields (and me not wanting to risk a horrible death) have decided to grow my own shrooms. I have posted anonymously for obvious reasons.

I was looking through the FAQs and read and understood most of dankotron's guide to growing. Is this the best and easiest way? Is there a better way? (I hear growing in an aquariam is good).

And I would order a syringe from www.sporebank.com. (the link was posted in the faq so I can only assume it is still ok?)

Anyway, I can't decide what kind of spores to get. I was debating either Ecuador or Golden Teacher, but open for anything. Anyone order from there and have a favorite spore to use? And does anyone have any comments or suggestions or even another method to use? Thanks for the help.

    Hey man,

Check out the shroomery at www.shroomery.org. Also check out the movie posted in this forum at http://www.drugsandbooze.com/showthread.php?t=11327.

I think these two resources will be able to help you significantly. The movie is very informational and definently worth washing. It covers about everything for a simple grower and even some advacned stuff. The Shroomery is perhaps the best resource on the internet for mushroom growing, there are many, many guides there and a very popular forum if you have any questions.

Thanks for that spore link, I've been looking for a place to get some spores.
I'm thinking of growing sometime this winter or perhaps in the spring. It will be a great way to have the difficult to aquire mushrooms (at least around here) and to make a few extra bucks.

Let me/us know how it goes, you should consider starting a Grow Diary with pictures etc. I will when I get my grow together.

    Good luck.

Thanks. Does anyone have any personal opinions on what kind of spores to get?

At the end of the say, it probably won't make a shitton of difference to you. Pick the easiest to successfully grow as listed by the site. Your first time out should just be concerned with sterility and survival, not output.

Wow, I just watched that whole mushroom growing video, and its a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be to grow. Now I just have to wait until I get my apartment this summer and then I'm giving my first operation a go.

It's really not hard at all. The most important thing is that you *have* to steralize everything.

Like 12 times. Nothing is more disappointing than popping your cakes only to find them devoured by mold 3 weeks later. Is no good

Exactly how do you measure out how much shrooms you're taking? Like how do you know how many grams is in 2 caps? Should you just eat the caps, or the whole thing?

Best advice would be to get scales. I think they should be accurate to .01 or .001 Then just measure out what you want to take (I think for first timers 2 grams is best? Hopefully someone clarifies that properly) Good luck

Damn, more shit to buy. So doing the "8 caps should be fine" won't work?

Is this thing worth the money, or just useless? http://www.universityscientific.com/...rod=161&xSec=4

No, you will need a scale to get an acurate weight, but I don't think you'll need one more acurate than one decimal place (0.1g).

You can easily make your own incubation chamber but it does save you the trouble of figuring out how you're going to heat it and assembling it. It's really up to you.

Ya but it's $100. Is it going to do everything pretty much for me? And do I not have to worrey about contamination?

Yeah, it has just about everything you need. You still need to worry about contamination, though. Unless the substrate is pre-sealed in the grow jars you'll need to steralize them and I would suggest washing everything down with bleach. You'll also have to be careful when you introduce the spores - steralize your tools as well as the room you're working in.

It's not really about the strain you grow, it's the method you grow. Easiest is the rice patty method. Be sure to be as sterile as possible. And do not be impatient. Dry out your harvest, don't eat them wet. Good luck. :]

In the video I watched, it said you can eat them fresh or let them dry out?

You can eat them wet, there's no problem with it except your dosage wil be larger to acount for the water weight (multiply your dry dose by ten). If you're not going to eat them immedietly after you harvest you *must* dry them out, though. Mushrooms start to rot as soon as they're picked.
