    Default Sick of ignorance

I'm so sick of stupid people... in the past 2 days I debated with 2 different people aboout why Marijuana is MUCH less harmfull than Alcohol. I provided numerous facts, and even showed the government's listing of zero deaths form marijuana overdose. The response is always "If it wasn't bad it wouldn't be illegal," I'm glad people are so narrow-minded... It's ridiculous man, people have been so brainwashed by this government, well moreso the media - as corporations/media run the world moreso than the government (IMO - it is debatable). What it comes down to is this country is so ignorant, and unless you cram thr truth down their throats like government anti-drug commercials the message won't get across... We shoudl start making adds and putting them allover schools and public areas with facts about marijuana that will include the source they are from - maybe I'll make one tomorrow and post it here.

Ah well, some people just don't seem to trust Drugs/Alcohol that much. I mean, think of all the stuff you've ever heard from when you were little til now: they're still telling you not to do it probably. That's just going with the whole "respecting authority figures" kind of thing. In all honesty, I don't have a problem with people getting shit faced or high, as long as it doesn't interfer with anyone else. Anything of a dangerous sort I mean. Plus there's the whole "getting caught" stigma. Getting caught = bad. But, I'm afraid I can't agree either way on which one is worse, seeing as how I've never tried either enough to know. I would assume alcohol is worse though, because of the whole driving while drunk, it impairing your judgement, damaging liver, usually making people far less patient, whereas pot just kinda makes the user happy. Of course, both over a long period is a bad idea, so it just kinda works to not do either =P.

You should try to adjust your arguement a little. It comes across as though you're arguing that drugs aren't unhealthy (which is untrue). But your actual point of weed being healthier than alcohol is very likely true. So. you should shift your point towards the fact that just because alcohol is legal, doesn't make it healthier. From there if you want to argue that all things healthier than alcohol should be legalized, feel free, but that's a seperate arguement altogether.

Heck yeah man I agree to the max. Its funny I've thought the same thing many times. To combat the anti-drug commercials we should make our own. Everytime I see those bastards from Freevibe on TV it makes my blood boil. Whats worse is people who act like marijuana is crack coccain and start telling me how i'm going to "ruin my life" and all of this bullshit. I was just as ignorant as they were before I smoked, I thought it was much more destructive than it actually is. It's time to fight back.

Look it's not that there ignorant, it's what they want to do to marijuna what they tried to do to alcohol in the thirties. Instead of comparing alcohol to marijuna, they just focus on marijuna as if it's the only drug with negative affects.

Alcohol is harmful, but making it illegal won't work. Marijuna is harmful and it is illegal, so they manipulate people as much as possible to make it stay that way.

In other words, alcohol is worse, yet people like it too much, so it will stay. Only a small group of people care about marijuna (compared to those of alcohol), so there's no problem keeping it illegal.

I understand where you are coming from, I argued the idea when I was younger. The thing is laws are based on public believes and needs. So even though alcohol and cigerettes should be illegal (since they are harmful), people like them and need them too much. You can see this system occur in many laws.

I agree that marijuana is less harmful than alcohol, and that it is made to seem as if it is deadly. It isn't good for you, but it is less harmful than other drugs. The only reason marijuana isn't legalized and alcohol and cigarettes is because alcohol and cigarettes have been legal. If alcohol and cigarettes were banned, the public would outrage. Marijuana has been illegal therefore the government doesn't have to legalize it. If it were up to the government, all drugs and alcohol would be illegal, but thats not the case, simply because people have become dependent on it without worry of reprocusions.

I agree with whate everyone has said, and I know marijuana isn't 100% safe, no form of smoke inhalation is good for you. And the reason it can't be legalized is 1. Lobbyists 2. Most people think weed is actually reallly bad, thanks to government funded anti-drug movements adn media. However, I do think marijauna will be at least decriminalized in the United States in my lifetime. It became very close to being legalized (or decriminalized, I don't remember which) in the 70s, something like 13 states legalized (or decriminalized) marijuana. The only place I know of in the U.S. is Ammherst, Massauchusetts - where marijuana is decriminalized. That's why I want to spread this info so much, and spread the true facts about marijuana. If this generation of teens learns the truth about marijauna, when we're old enough to be presidents and politicions, a change will occur.... untill then U.S. gov't is a bunch of racist, oppresive fucks - and I'm nto just saying that cuz Bush is the president, this country has always been corrupt and harmfully imperialistic.

Tonight I actually got into an argument with a girl about how marijuana is safer than alcohol. We had been drinking a little bit, so it was easier for me to think of more creative answers on how to debate against her anti-marijuana views. At the end of the night, we both ended up smoking toghether.

I totally agree. Plus to all of you, keep the discussion up. I don't have much to say except I believe Mary Jane is no doubt safer than alcohol.

I agree, marijuana is infact less harmful then alcohol. There was infact once a ban on alcohol, but they over threw it because of the smuggling. You would think the bastards in the governemtn would learn from that, but no, they keep fighting a useless war on drugs. They won't win, legalize the plant only time will tell.

That reminds me, a while back I was teaching my girlfriend the facts about drugs, then after about a half hour she said that she wanted to try them. And I asked her, "Are you convinced that drugs are safe as long as they are used responsibly?" (sp?) She said "No, I still think drugs will kill you, but I dont care anymore." I was wanted to scream out, "THAT'S NOT THE POINT," so bad. From then on I tried to educate sooo many people, but sadly, the media and gov has gotten to them first.

I totally agree that marijuana is better than alcohol. I did my senior research paper on the effects of marijuana on america. Smoking pot isn't exactly healthy for you, but when put into a pill (called Marinol) or mouth spray (called Sativex)(both of which are being done in the Europe/Amsterdam area) are perfectly healthy for you and are actually prescribed pain relievers. Aside from the whole effects issue, America spends about 20 billion dollars on the "drug war" and keeping weed out of the states, where they could legalize, tax it like tobbaco and take part in the $63 billion a year industry.
FYI: Just a little fact on overdosing with marijuana; A 160 pound person would have to smoke nearly 900 joints in secession to make marijuana lethal
