How does everyone feel about names of weed? What I mean is lately it seems everyone has been stressing these "wonderful strands of bud". The ones I hear all the time are AK-47 and Trainwreck. Of course there are buds that are better than others, but do you think people can honestly know with such certainty what strand their smoking or is it just a ploy used by dealers to get people excited about their product? For me, if it seems like dank bud I really don't care what kind of "brand name" is attached. But i'm curious about everyone else's opinions.

I don't trust anyone who claims to be selling a strain, friend or not. Its 80% bullshit.

I think that There should be differnt names so people can tell which weed is which. like if you had 5 differend strains of weed and you wanted to sepparte them, put them in little baggies with there names on them.

I dont think it is *80%* bullshit, there are some honest people out there.

I agree with the OP 100%. I'd say 80% of the time when somebody claims they have X weed, in reality the dealer told them that because he had some good bud and wanted to sell it more easily. I won't deny that it is excellent weed, but I will argue the fact that the dealer even knows what strain he has.

When some one tells you what the name of the weed they are giving you is, they are probably completely full of shit.
The only way to truly know is to grow it yourself, or to know the person who is growing it.

If only we were all that lucky to have those two priveleges.
If anyone says they have some kickass buds, I agree it's like a marketing ploy. I don't blame them for doing it, any good businessperson would, but I never buy it (no pun intended) until I see and smoke it for myself. That's the only true test. In other words, if it's good weed the buyer will see it for themselves, without any fancy terms.

I judge the weed by how good it looks, not buy what it's called.

I agree. but even if he did hear it from the dealer and told it to me, how do I know the dealer was lieing or not?

I had a funny story told to me in class one day by a 55 year old man:
"So I had these clones, right? I had no way of telling them apart after I got them from the grower, so I put those little stars on 'em -- you know, like the gold stars a teacher would have? I had a gold one, a green one, and a red one. And then I wrote in my notebook "red star - trainwreck", "white star - sensei star", and "gold star - AK-47".
She apparently didn't understand it, because when I came back she was selling something called "white star sensei". She had started calling the Trainwreck "dp" because her dog had actually pissed on the plant. No one has any idea what the fuck they're selling."
It was an entertaining story. Truth of the matter is, no one knows *for certain* except for the guy who accquired the seeds in the first place (if from a supplier) or the guy that grew the male/female breeding plants in the first place. Your dealer could be the nicest guy in the world, and would never lie to you -- but it doesn't mean there hasn't been 4 hands it's passed through, all of them clueless.

Well, in california the cannibus clubs usually sell real strains.
Well, in california the cannibus clubs usually sell real strains.
Yeah, I bought 2 clones from one, and my babies are growing fast. 1 plant is trainwreck, the other is hemp star.
Some clubs are greedy, and overprice and lie about strains *COUGH* Santa monica and fairfax *COUGH*.
