I never knew that vodka was made from potatoes until recently.

Actually, vodka can be made out of lots of stuff... rye, wheat, barley, oats, potatoes. I looked it up and found even sugar beets and rutabagas are sometimes used in polish vodka, although that sounds kind of gross.

Good vodka is made from wheat, such as Stoli's. Crappy vodka, ( like albertsons $3/gallon shit) is made from potato's, and finger nails.

stoli once took the varnish off my coffee table.

when i was underage, my friends and i used to get drunk at home and then go out to the clubs. one night we were doing straight shots of stoli and then went out. the next morning my roommate and i were cleaning up and when we picked up the shot glasses we found perfect little round circles where the glasses had been sitting. the little bit of stoli that ran down the side of the shot glasses had eaten through the finish down to the wood. always made me sort of wonder after that what it does to our innards-

We made potato vodka in organic chemistry class once. That was lots of fun, although we didn't get to drink it, and it smelled like ass. Still, making vodka in a high school class is pretty cool.

Flathead High School, in Kalispell, Montana. It wasn't exactly vodka, but the lab was producing alcohol from potatoes, and it sure smelled like cheap, foul tasting stuff that you could get drunk on if you had the stomach for it. Which is pretty damn close to vodka.

Awesome nonetheless, either by a short step or a giant leap, it's still awesome.

I used to work in a maximum security jail. The inmates would make an alcohol that was called "Pruno" from moldy bread, sugar, fruit, and other shit they smuggled.

There is a high quality potatoe vodka, i've never had it, but its in the magazines where they review only the best stuff that you can't find very many places.

well vodka was traditionally made from potatoes, but now it is just grain alcohol diluted with water. that's right, you can spend a shitload on grey goose but it is still just water and grain.

my favorite vodka is Luksosowa, a polish potato vodka that actually has a good taste to it. It isn't very expensive ($23 for a handle)

I knew. I actually just posted something about that. It's because those crazy Euro's had nothing but taters one day, so they said "hey...taters...let's let them rot and soak out the juices...then we'll add some stuff and wash it and turn it upside down a few times....let's see what this tastes like..." And then they got wasted and laughed forever. The end.

I was kind of surprised when I heard it was made from potatoes. I don't know why though.. it's perfectly logical. Potatoes don't *look* sugary however.

Vodka can be made from just about anything containing starch. That includes potatoes, several grains, and even grapes (try Ciroc sometime, mighty fucking tasty). The most expensive vodka that I am aware of is Ultimat, a polish vodka distilled from rye, wheat and potatoes, the shit costs about $55 a fifth.

Yea all vodka is chemically the same, basically what seperates Grey Goose, from McKormick is the amount they refine it... so buy several gallons of cheap shit and a vodka filter... then buy one fifth of good shit and a funnel... throw a party and convince the stupid girls you are serving great quality vodka, and they will then procede to get hammer and you will get them drunk and be able to have your way with them and it will be great.

Vodka is my favorite alcohol next to beer. I am a vodka snob however, and only drink Grey Goose. Nothing like a good, ice-cold shot. The cheaper shit is alright in mixed drinks however; I am particularly fond of Kamikazes.
