Well I recently bought a box of Umph, these little effervecent tabs (like alka-seltzer) that fizz up is liquids to add 99mg of Caffeine (about 2 coke's worth) and a few other things. I read the side of the box and it says:

Do not exceed the recommended doage of 4 tabs in 24 hours. Limit the use of caffeine containtg medications, foods, or beverages while taking this product because too much caffeine may cause nervousness, irritability, sleeplessness, and occasionally, rapid heart beat. Do not combine with alcoholic beverages. For occasional use only. Not intended for a substitute for sleep. Individuals with high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes, thyroid disease should use only as directed by a physician.

In my opinion I find caffeine as a recreational drug most of the time, aside from that, I use to wake myself up, even though its one of the worst things to give you energy since after the plateau (yes, plateau) of the high (being very hyper) you start to come down and drag, feeling even worse then you did before taking the dosage.

What do you think Caffeine is really supposed to be? A recreational drug, or helpful energizer?

Depends on how you use it. At LAN parties, I can almost get drunk off it. 6-12 bawls with penguin mints on top of it, and then candy does wonders to your mind. But when in moderation, I think it 's a helpful energizer.

I personally don't find it to do much for me at all. I can drink 2 Mountain Dews and then pass out immediately. I've eaten 20 of those Penguin Mints at a time before and still didn't feel anything. Guarana on the other hand, I can definately feel effects after taking it, I feel warm and fuzzy and a lot more alert. It had some other stuff in it though, such as Passion Flower, which might have contributed to it, dunno though. I see caffeine as just.. a placebo effect I guess.

People act like caffeine makes them go nuts and hyper and out of control. I've had plenty of caffeine pop and gone to sleep right afterwards. Technically caffeine is a drug, but it isn't in the same league as other drugs.

Apparently if you take a whole bunch of it you do get pretty jittery but I haven't ever had enough to get like that.

Same here except I think of caffeine as just... a fucking headache whenever you try to use it heavily in recreation. And btw Guarana does kick ass.

I disagree with all the posts saying that Caffeines a placebo. If I have any coffee after like, 3:00PM, I ain't getting to bed that night. I mean, I probably could get to sleep, it's just a lot harder for me to do.

That, and whenever I go to LAN parties and it's 4:00 AM or something ridiculous and I can't think for shit, caffeine stirs up my mind and I'm able to function again.

I don't drink caffeine pop or coffee so I have no caffeine tolerance whatsoever. If I take even one caffeine pill I get incedibly hyper-motivated and happy and then an hour or two later feel like shit, both physically and mentally. Plus, half the time I get bad stomach cramps from them. So I consider it a drug, but not a really pleasant one.

I think of caffeine as a drug. It's addicting as hell.

Not really. Only if you have like 6 cokes in an hour. If you have like 1 a day, youll be fine. Ive never noticed a real differenct when i drink like 3 cokes or something.

On wellcoolstuff.com they sell pure caffeine intended for snorting... so I tried that out by crushing some of those effervescent tabs and did a small line about 1.5 inches, the sting sure woke me up, and Im feeling a bit more alret

If you take Caffeine pills/other energizing pills, than yeah I find that as a drug. Just drinking coffee & soda, it has never made me feel energized..I'll usually have a cup of coffee in the morning when I'm working, it wakes me up but doesn't get me fully alert. I don't find either of those addicting..

1 gram of pure caffeine will do what a single drop of pure nicotine will do, make your heart explode
