Early Wednesday morning, State Sen. Roy Ashburn (R-Calif.) was pulled over and arrested for drunk driving. Sources report that Ashburn -- a fierce opponent of gay rights -- was driving drunk after leaving a gay nightclub; when the officer stopped the state-issued vehicle, there was an unidentified man in the passenger seat of the car.

Ashburn has issued an apology for the incident:

"I am deeply sorry for my actions and offer no excuse for my poor judgment. I accept complete responsibility for my conduct and am prepared to accept the consequences for what I did. I am also truly sorry for the impact this incident will have on those who support and trust me - my family, my constituents, my friends, and my colleagues in the Senate."

I always knew that the most outspoken antigay activists are secretly gay themselves and their *activism* is just an excuse to get close to all the cute men.

I find that most people who go out of their way to be homophobic are the bi curious ones. You can not like gay people but you don't need to be a huge homophobe about it.

Wasn't there another preacher or politician who was also antigay activist but he got caught doing meth bootie bumps with some guy?

Although there have been tons of high profile preachers who got caught in their homosexuality.

This kind of thing has happened many times before and will happen many more times in the future.

I disagree. Some people can be brought up that way and the idea get stuck in their head and stays there because its all they have ever known or known the most. It is then up to the person to get the dumb idea out of their head. :P Thankfully, it seems every generation is getting closer to accepting it it seems.

I feel sorry for the hard core raised Christians at my school sometimes. They just take that shit to far when they save someone is going to hell for being gay. :( Even if I thought god existed I can't imagine him sending good people to hell like that. I thought they said he loved everyone back in the preschool Sunday school days.
