Hmmm... seems iffy. That video, even in HD, never presents a super clear picture of the face. Given that there are 300 million Americans, what are the odds that there's someone else out there who looks similar to the guy? Pretty good odds, I'd say.

And, I'm no doctor, but I've certainly never heard of a terminal condition that produces the acute effects displayed in the video. Not saying it isn't possible, but... I don't know, it's just hard to put stock in that.

The author is largely just attacking Youtube, too. I'm not sure why he's not going after the uploaders instead. I have to wonder, has a Youtube employee really given the "pass" on this video, thus deserving blame? One angle to this could be it's just a marketing ploy against Google.

Of course this is all conjecture, the author just doesn't give much to go on...

I agree with this. Either way I'm pretending he's just fucked up and it's funny and hope I don't go to hell for it.

Uh, there are several terminal brain diseases that can affect your sense of balance. A tumor on the nerves that control your inner ear would do it. Menier's would cause that kind of reaction but not necessarily be fatal unless in conjunction with something else (i.e., fatal fall). Early onset dementia could do this. Huntington's Disease could do this. Jesus, don't you guys ever watch House?

If you go through the rest of the guy's blog, it's pretty benign and sans any pranks.

As far as recognizing the face? Come on. You've got face, clothing, a medical history, a dead friend, and a beer selection to go off of. I'm pretty sure any one of my local friends could identify me from a store camera with that information, even if the face is slightly garbled.

Plus, you'll note the guy isn't resisting *at all*. Any person drunk would be shoving you off. If you were tripping on DXM, I would expect you to be freaking out more than anything. And that's a loooooong ass time to be on the brink of a k-hole.

I actually think brain disease makes the most sense here. If you were dosing K and could barely walk, would you be headed down to the store for a 12 pack of bud light? Seriously?

Ah, I read 'disease' as in 'addiction'. I'm probably off though.

Either way, I feel spanked (ethically so). I try to practice empathy and I certainly fail at it on many occasion.

I wish there were a way to express to this dude that really, our laughter doesn't necessarily have to come from a hateful place. It really can come from an 'oh fuck, I've been very close being there..if not ALL the way there'. It's usually our own discomfort or self awareness that makes us laugh at others. I can see where he's coming from, sincerely.

This blog post, which I can not verify, says he knew the guy and he had an unspecified disease he was suffering from.

If that's the case, I feel hella sorry for the guy (who's now dead).

"hella"
ollie, you a norcal guy?

sorry for my last comment. left it waiting for a while before submitting before the conversation turned. I think we should take this post down. its hypocritical for us to feel bad for the guy in a conversation titled "what drug is this guy on" on a drug forum.

That was a joke right?? Please tell me that was tongue in cheek.

Shit man if anyone can empathize with the foibles of drug use it's us. I'm laughing because I've been that guy as well as seen that guy. Lighten up and have a laugh for Pete's sake. Or if you're sincerely offended by it, find another thread.

Actually, I'm with Neon Indian.

If the dude is actually mentally ill and/or physically disabled due to a fatal disease, I don't want to be mocking him. It might be drugs, it might not -- but seriously, if we've been there, would we want our shit spread around the internet? I've stumbled through a 7-11 like that once...or maybe twice. Disease or not, that's kind of fucked up.
