Desiderata will feature four days of nonstop live psytrance, jambands, drum and bass, techno, dub, reggae, sounds unclassifiable and in between. In the spirit of biodiversity, we’ve put together an eclectic and exuberant mix. You’ll also be able to check out various global social movements, engage in workshops and lectures, and attend indie film premieres and multimedia performances.

Desiderata will take place at the beautiful Echo Lake Campground in upstate New York.

ECHO LAKE WAS SHUT DOWN

Desiderata Festival will take place at Gelston Castle Estate in Upper Central New York, immediately outside of Utica.

We have relocated to a new utopian domain at scenic Gelston Castle Estate in an effort to make Desiderata as ravishing an experience as possible.

Camouflaged in the finest foliage New York state has to offer, the Gelston Castle Estate provides an unparalleled atmosphere for release,
revelry and relaxation; Its seclusion from society allows greener grass, cleaner air, unrestricted creative freedom and louder music - all weekend long.

For a festival dedicated to freedom and free will, there is not another place on earth you would rather be.


Gelston Castle Estate, located at 980 Robinson Road, Mohawk New York 13407, is easily accessible by car, bus, train and air transportation.

Our new home is 30 minutes away from Uticas Union Station (at 321 Main Street Utica, NY 13501) - the destination for all bus companies and Amtrak trains.

The nearest airports are in Syracuse and Albany, only 60 - 90 minutes away respectively.

Thank you for posting this, though I must admit I'm now a bit hesitant to go. I've been to one festival - Summer Solstice Projekt - that was shut down by the police and have no desire to go through that hassle again. Do you have any information regarding why Echo Lake was shut down?

COVENTRY – The owner of the Coventry campground which stayed in operation despite being closed down by county health officials is now facing personal charges related to the offense.

Ahmad Shaheed, 57, appeared in the Town of Coventry court Wednesday to face charges of willful violation of public health laws in relation to his continued operation of the campground. The charges were filed on July 15 by Chenango County’s Director of Public Health, Marcas Flindt, just days after Shaheed hosted the 3rd Annual Orb Festival, a four-day outdoor music event, at the facility.

According to Flindt’s complaint, which was read during the hearing, Echo Lake had been officially closed by the health department on May 22. Furthermore, notice had been served on two other occasions, on June 15 and 22, that they needed to cease operation immediately because of the closure. These notifications were ignored, however, and the campground remained open.

Shaheed did not have an attorney present, although he was advised by Town Justice Russell Lerwick that he was entitled to representation. The business owner did not enter a plea on the charges, but he did make a statement to the court.
