For those select few that have actually withdrawaled from H, or OC i guess, or have had or are in a heavy opiate addiction, what do you do to take your mind off your substance abuse. What things do you do to keep your mind off your pain. I'm trying to stop and maybe some of you have some useful tips or something.

Please don't reply if you have never been in my situation. I just want answers from experience.

Its not like I'm asking for help to stop, I just want to know some things you guys did to get through those rough times of feelin bad ya know?

I KNOW i can stop when I choose to. Stopping isnt the problem/point of this thread.

thanks.

SWIM knows many pepole who have been in that situation coming off of Oxycontin. WDs from about 80mg daily usually gets the worst around day 3 and honestly by day 5 or 6 one is usually feeling a lot better, almost normal again because the physical symptoms are mostly gone. In the meantime, you may find that going outside and seeing people will help IMMENSELY. Sitting in the confines of your home will only make it feel more like a month than a week. You will be surprised at how much it helps take your mind off it if you can force yourself to go hang with some friends! Other than that,.... weed!

Haha i do hang out with friends constantly, and weed is also on a constant. That is honestly what helps me the most. My WD's are the worse at day2 and 3. I guess the hardest part is keeping yourself entertained enough and feeling good enough to not NEED it and make that phone call to the h dealer that might just happen to live down the street where possibly you could walk 5 minutes and get it..

Fuck...I detoxed off Oxy before. Once. I tried to taper down. I got to about (1)80mg day. This was back in 2000. I started taking them in 1999 and didn't really know what they were. I should have received damages from Purdue Pharms in the lawsuit they lost not to long ago. The had to pay damages in the neighborhood of $500,000,000 saying the co. falsely advertised that the oxy wasn't as addictve as they knew it to be. I went to try and get into a detox. They kept me sleeping on ativan for about 36hrs. Then they srarted to taper me off the benzo and was discharged on day 3. My insurance wouldn't cover anymore. I was sent home with nothing but except the horror of full on opiate withdrawls. I suffered for close to 17 days not really sleeping but not able to get out of bed. Bones hurt...I felt like I was 90. After 2 1/2 weeks I was able to get up out of bed. It was terrible. If(when) I decide to detox again I'll make sure I've got what I need. Immodium, 30ct ativan, (20)ct subutex(already have half that), (10)ct suboxone. That way no suffering...why should i suffer? I like me. Am I supposed to punish myself?

suboxone helps , smoke hella bud , and lots of playstation!! if you cant get suboxone then methadone helps but i dont recommend it. that shit is worse for you than dope. benzo"s like xanax and valium help if you cant sleep and or need to relax. i also use methocarbomols (muscle relaxers) sometimes. also ive found that walking it out helps in more than one way. it helps with the aches and it also helps with clearing the mind. i been doing oxy 80s and similar narcotics almost daily since 1998 and have been thru this many times. it took me many days of being dope sick to learn what worked for me without having to give in and check myself into detox or a Methadone Clinic where i will be labeled by society!!! You Can Do Ittttttttttttt!!!!!!!!!!!

Warm showers work for me, but the relief only lasts about 15 minutes. Still better than nothing.

I used to do H when I was younger, I injected it. I did it for about 3 years and I only stopped doing it twice because I had no choice, i had lost contact with my connection. The pain I went through those first couple days- both times was so bad that I couldn't take it. The first time I went through the withdrawls from it, I held out two days, on that second day,( i remember it so well), I was lying there on my dining room floor thinking about how I had to end/ stop this pain I was feeling, I felt like I wanted to end my life, but instead i picked up the phone and called 911 and went to the hospital. There at the hospital they shot me up with some morphine, then about 30 min. later again they shot me up with more morphine. From there the doctor talked with me and said the best place I should go is to a rehab to detox. So off they sent me to rehab that night. Once there they gave me all kinds of medicine, shots, benzo's, muscle relaxers, and then it was over, there was no more pain from then on. That feeling in my bones and body was gone. I stayed there about 7 days, then went home.

I won't even get into the second time I detoxed, story's too long, anyways if I were you I would just try to get into a detox that's the easiest way to get through it , but you have to go to a good rehab place, some of them out there make you detox cold turkey with no meds at all, I've been to one and it's so horrible, I left that one AMA the next morning. Hopefully you have health insurance. If not then I don't know what to tell you. There are some drug rehabs that are free but I hear they're hard to get into. I don't know what I would have done if I didn't have health insurance. Hang in there!

I get outside and do something active, despite not feeling like it. Cigarettes help too, but those are worse for me than the opiates themselves. Oh yeah, pepto and weed.

Detox is a great idea. Just don't really have that option. I keep all this from my parents and I'm only 18

Find some Suboxone or Subutex and pop that for a few days. That shit is honestly a miracle in a pill.

Seriously, you gotta wean yourself off. I can damn well guarantee if you don't withdrawals will be hell. Just get some suboxone and take that for a few days...

Good luck.

I have had withdrawals before..quite a number of times..I know they are hell. I don't HAVE to wean myself off, I choose to because it is easier. And suboxone is out of the picture. I can't get them and I'm not going to go to a doctor for them. I was just asking for tips you guys actually used that helped you get through those rough days. I'm not a noob at this trying to stop an addiction, I can stop when I choose to.

After 2 months of almost daily heroin use, the worst day ever was day 4, by day 6 I was feeling somewhat normal again.

Smoke weed. Lots of Weed. any Benzo is your best friend, and if you can find 'em suboxone and subutex and Methadone are great helpers.

Just don't supply one addiction for another.

SWIM doesn't hold up in court. Just a little 411 that maybe you didn't know.

I kept it from my parents too. First time I was in rehab i was 19, the second time I was in there is when my parents found out, I was about 20 and what happened was they came to visit me (my mom and dad) and one of the people that worked there told them what I was there for, which was ilegal because I signed a confidentiality agreement for them not to tell anyone why I was in the rehab but I didn't make a big deal of it, I just let it go...they had to find out sooner or later, maybe it was for the best.

Anyway if you have health insurance, even if it's under your parents insurance, you can still go to a rehab and it will be confidential because your 18.

I haven't done opiates consistently enough to form a physical dependency but I know people that have detoxed from smack. They used methadone to ease the pain. Now they are addicted to methadone. I wouldnt recommend the methadone.
