Oh man. One of these days though.

I'm definitely going this year. I went last year and it was probably the most amazing thing I've ever done in my life. Some of the people playing there, like Metallica and Mastodon, really surprised me. Does anyone recognize any artists like DJ Shadow or Sasha & Digweed? Last year I just rolled face one night with 3 friends and went to the silent disco and I really hope to relive that.

I'm planning on bringing a vile of 400 hits this year and just dosing everyone I can for free.

Bonnarooooo!

Here is a paper I just wrote for English. It's nothing special, but I thought I'd share since it's about Bonnaroo. I'm fucking excited for some bands now that I browsed a good portion of them.

Going to Bonnaroo helped me evolve as a person. Prior to experiencing an event of this energy my general outlook on life was scattered and uninspired, and Bonnaroo completely helped me transition. Bonnaroo is a Music and Arts festival on a 700 acre farm in Manchester Tennessee that draws in a huge crowd every year. Even the name, meaning “a really good time” in Cajun, expresses the atmosphere spot on. The moment I submerged myself in the environment there was a distinct feeling of unity amongst all people here. Many frequent attendees people adopt Bonnaroo as a pseudo religion because of the positive energy displayed by practically everyone. With 80,000 people gathered to watch some of the worlds most talented artists and essentially party, it's hard to find someone who isn't trapped in Bonnaroo's euphoric ambiance. Wild chants of “Bonnaroooo!” can be heard throughout the 4 day festival as testament to its nature.

More than 50 bands came to perform and piece together the vast assortment of people that arrived at Bonnaroo. The variety of music is so vast that I found myself listening to entirely new genres, gaining appreciation with most every new band. For me the highlight of Bonnaroo 07's musical lineup was the band Tool. Tool is really popular for having outstanding stage performances, which they provided. The prime example of my musical expansion was seeing the group North Mississippi Allstars. I had no appreciation for Blues and Jazz until I seen them last year. Other bands that stuck with me were Sound Tribe Sector 9 and The Flaming Lips, who also had ridiculously good performances and both being of genres that were very distant to my previous taste. During Ziggy Marley, famous Bob Marley's son, I seen some very kind Rastafarian's who were some of most culturally varying people I have ever encountered.

Attending Bonnaroo grants you access to a family. The sense of brother and sisterhood is actually what many find so appealing and is firm proof that people can peacefully co-exist. I distinctly remember the first night of the festival where people across every campsite got together and played drum circles, meet one another, and gave off good vibes. My less than optimistic attitude did not work at Bonnaroo, and I came to the realization that this way of thinking was only burdensome and less pleasurable. Bonnaroo's culture encourages people to think freely, which is makes for much taboo. Its impact is comparable to that of 1969's Woodstock, which many people cannot morally overcome. Sadly this boundary hinders many people from going and experiencing one of the most socially bonding events I can fathom.

I feel that I owe Bonnaroo credit for my current state of mind. I turned from being lost and aimless, to becoming guided and motivated about my future. Weather it be musically or personally, I did not expect such a vast influence in character. Not only did I see my favorite band, I also made friends that I share some of my most precious memories with. I will be undoubtedly attending annually from now on. The magnitude of Bonnaroo can only be experienced.

Yea I was there in 2006, but I didn't know how epicly awesome Sigur Ros is until after the festival =\. I think I ended up seeing TV on the Radio & Ladytron instead that day.

The only people that I really would like to see on that line up are The Allman Brothers and Phil Lesh & Friends. Seeing Kanye on there almost made me cry. The Bonnaroo crowd is getting progressively more annoying, more trash everywhere, less hippies dancing to nothing. Dissapointing really.

The lineup doesn't really excite me this year unfortunately, I was really considering dropping the cash to make the trip.

The only bands I'd really want to see here are Umphrey's, Sigur Ros, and Willie Nelson. I'm already seeing Phil and Friends a few times this year, I'm willing to bet Allman Brothers Band won't show up as they already cancelled a bunch of shows due to Gregg's Hepatitis C and failing health, and I'm seeing a bunch of the other smaller bands at other venues.

Bonnarooooo!

Sasha plays every year. BTW DJ Sasha is the absolute sex when it comes techno.

Metallica will be one of the few shows I will openly hate, not hat I hate their music I hate the band.

Going to be there this year, look for someone wearing a "Dose The Doc" shirt with DnB emblem in sharpie.

MadHatter, I totally agree with your paper, I went in just a crazed dug addict to a crazed drug addict with hope and better musical taste.
