Well there was a law passed a few months ago that if someone is on/in your property or business you can use leathel force on them.

Well I heard on the news about how some guy had stolen another guy's car. So the owner of the car and a friend jumped in a car and chased him down, they finally caught up to him and shot him twice. And they said on the news that he will not get in trouble for it because of the new law. (i guess the car is considered his property)

I think it's great. If someone steals my car I will be happy to shoot/stab them.

Thoughts?

What about in domestic abuse cases? Like some dickhead pays for house, etc and his girlfriend is there and he beats the shit out of her?

I think there should still be some level of punishment, even if its little, just so people don't get the idea they can hurt people as long as they are on their property.

I'm pretty sure there's parts of the law that SolidSnake didn't include in his post. Obviously they aren't going to make a law that just because some person is on your property you can kill them. There's more to it, i.e. they have to be stealing your property, or otherwise doing something illegal on your property to warrant such a use of lethal force. Not to say that these kinds of laws are anywhere near good, because there is always so much gray area, but i'm sure the politicians gave it a shot (no pun intended)

A good friend of mine was at work (a toyota dealership) late at night picking up some of his stuff, when a security guard saw him and just asumed he was stealing. My friend got shot twice in the back and killed because the guy assumed wrong. From my point of view, this law sucks.

When the police searched his body they found no money or anything that looked like he had been stealing.

That law is retarded. You can shoot someone else only if he threatens your life. Even if he's a thief, it's not a reason to kill him.

Ridiculous law. Puts a little too much power in peoples hands. If someone comes on your property and says hey I'll kick your ass(maybe he's drunk and lost) you technically could end his life? That's a bit fucking asinine.
