Clean your glass bowls + tips

Cleaning your bowls not only makes glass pieces see through again like the day they were made but you will also be tasting nothing but your weed. It will taste 100% better if your piece is like new, resign free. You also get to see then piece change colors again from resign build up, which never ceases to amaze stoners. I encourage this practice, especially if you get to enjoy kind nugget regularly!

If you like to smoke resign (free nasty tasting high) here are some tips:

Heating up the glass makes it a lil easier so take a few resign hits from the bottom of your bowl before cleaning. Also take one backwards hit lighting the stem & sucking on the bowl. A strong, but thin, piece of metal that's fairly long usually works well. I have a vintage nail which has 4 sides that come to a tip which is my weapon of choice. The innards of the bowl is usually a waste of time since they're hard to reach&scrape - unless you let the resign build up for a while just clean that part out with one of the disposable tools mentioned below. If you really want that stuff - rip the cotton off one end of a QTip and use that since it's flexable & wont ruin the reisgn

For when you've gotten all the resign you can reach or don't even smoke resign, use these tools:

Pipe cleaners work well, I'm sure, but I've never tried them on a glass piece. You'll probably have to use these if you have a larger piece.

I find handheld sized glass pieces easiest to clean with a Q-Tip since that shit is sticky like ear wax. A lil water (on qtip) will polish her up so it looks like new.

You'll even be able to see the cherry through the front/sides of the bowl, depending how clear your piece is, and know when to switch to a screened piece to prevent the horrible ash/weed suck through (if yours has a huge bowl hole like mine).

That sounds complicated...

1. Boil Water

2. Dip in what you want to clean

3. Swish it around in there

4. Take it out and clean with cu-tip or pipe cleaner

5. Do it again a few times until its clean.

I had a shitty one but all I did was run a pipecleaner through it a few times with hot water and soap. I never smoked the resign, I'd rather sell it and buy real shit. <_>

I know this thread is for glass bowls, but how do you clean a metal bowl? I know you can use pipe cleaners, but they are too hard to get a-hold of these days.

Take water.
Take sea salt.
Mix together until the salt is dissolved. Be generous with salt. Put this mix in a plastic baggie.
Put piece in baggie. Shake. Leave overnight.
In the morning, remove the piece, pour the contents into a coffee filter. Let evaporate.
Form into resin ball.

I haven't tried this but, I've heard that a good thing to do is...
Full a bowl full of rubbing alcohol
Put the pipe in the bowl
Bowl in the microwave for 1:30 (depending on the strength of the microwave)
Take it out.
Wash it with soap and water
Wash ALOT of water through it to get rid of the soap/alcohol smell/residue.

Here's two good ways to clean glass pipes.

1: First, put some salt inside the pipe and in the bowl. Then put some rubbing alcohol in with it, don't fill the pipe up full, it needs space to shake around. Next, cover all holes and shake it like you are having a seizure. The salt won't dissolve in the alcohol and when you shake it around it acts almost like a sandblaser. I've had the best results with this.

2: Get a pot of water and put you pipe in it. Make sure there is just enough water to cover the pipe. Bring the pot of water and pipe to a boil, or at least close to a boil. I suggest having a candle lit at this time because it gets kind of stinky. Next take baking soda and dump some in. It will boil up really fast and if you put too much in it will overflow. Carefully stir the pipe around during this. Repeat a couple of times. This will get most but not all of the reisen out. Finish by touching up with rubbing alcohol and pipe cleaners.

Hobby Lobby or other craft store. You have no idea the usefull shit you can find in there. I have built bongs out of the crap they have in there... mainly because the beast is right next door to the movie theater so me and my buds would smoke, go to the movie and then go to the hobby lobby and try to get shit to build a new bong and then go home and smoke again.

ON BOILING GLASS:

this will weaken your glass making it more likely to chip / break / shatter if dropped or hitten a lil too hard on ashtray.

I woud only boil a huge & thick peices. This way they're not going to weaken much at all and if it's truely huge then it'll probably save you some effort.

Yeah, I was slightly confused by boiling your pipe. I don't like the idea much. I cleaned mine a few days ago by pouring some vodka into a small bag and swishing my pipe around in there. Worked OK, but I'll probably have to clean it again soon.

Mold, don't forget to warm the piece up before you put it in the boiling water... I had some friends awhile ago who tried that method, and the glass cracked because of the drastic temp change.
